CrossFunction
A work place where history informs, design accelerates, and culture motivates professionals to be well and do great work.
Our Place in History
The Boulevard Arcade opened in 1906 and was designed by prominent Oak Park architect E.E. Roberts. The one-story Prairie-style structure featured a brick façade, cast iron columns, and distinctive transom art glass.
In 1922, Chicago architect Arthur Jacobs designed a second story, transforming the building into a multi-tenant, indoor shopping arcade devoted specifically to women.
Designated an Oak Park Landmark in 2007, the façade was restored in 2008 by co-owners Paul and Leah Beckwith and Rick and Laura Talaske to approximate the 1922 design.
Today, CrossFunction as reimagined the Arcade, boasting the brilliances of its past, while programing it for the next chapter in this stunning example of 20th-century architecture.
Our Story
CrossFunction is a community of professionals who come together to work, connect, and grow—inside thoughtfully restored, historic spaces. We create flexible, design-forward office shares where work feels good and community comes naturally.
Founded in 2019 by J. Trent Stoner, CrossFunction began as a simple real estate idea: bring the energy of coworking out of the city and into the neighborhoods where people live. That belief only strengthened as the world changed.
Today, CrossFunction is evolving beyond shared office alone—expanding into places that support how people live, work, and gather. While our shared workspaces remain at the core, residential and retail experiences are thoughtfully layered in to create more connected, human-scaled environments.
CrossFunction. Built for how you work now.
